Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the role of social media in forming the character of Christian leaders of youth and youth of the GMIT Mawar Saron Liliba Congregation. Qualitative methods using observational data collection techniques and literature studies are the methods used in this research. The results of the research show that it is undeniable that the use of social media by young GMIT Congregation Mawar Saron Liliba is still very high. Teenagers cannot be separated from social media. This can be seen in worship activities, most of which are seen actively using social media. This condition has an impact on the behavior and character of young people who lack respect for worship services, such as sermon services. This condition means that character formation is not going well. For this reason, the role of church leaders or clergy is very important in preparing programs for young people to be careful and wise in using social media in the church. Apart from that, the provision of rules or sanctions needs to be socialized to young people, so that they can avoid the habit of using social media during worship. In this way, Christian values or character can shape the attitudes and behavior of church youth, so that they are ready to become leaders who have positive character.
