The shooting of Bangkal villagers on October 7, 2023, exposes a fundamental problem in the Indonesian police’s approach to social-personal conflict. Existing academic discourse reads officers' spiritual competence through individualistic, atheological psychometric frameworks, failing to capture the social-relational dimension that is most decisive in conflict situations. This article constructs spiritual-social intelligence as a singular theological habitus uniting the vertical and horizontal dimensions of love, grounded in the double-love command (Mat. 22:37-40), Trinitarian perichoresis, and koinonia. The research employs practical-theological reflection within a case study framework using Osmer's four tasks: descriptive-empirical, interpretive, normative, and pragmatic. Three findings emerge: psychometric reduction is insufficient for forming officers as servants of peace; Christian spirituality is socially constitutive rather than merely consequential; and spiritual formation must integrate egkrateia (self-control) and eirenopoietics (peacemaking) across the entire deployment cycle. The article concludes with pastoral-practical proposals for spiritual formation among Polri personnel.
Abstrak
Tragedi penembakan warga Desa Bangkal pada 7 Oktober 2023 menyingkap problema mendasar dalam pendekatan aparat kepolisian terhadap konflik sosial-personal di Indonesia. Wacana akademik selama ini membaca kompetensi spiritual aparat melalui kerangka psikometrik yang individualistis dan ateologis, sehingga gagal menangkap dimensi sosial-relasional yang paling menentukan di lapangan konflik. Artikel ini mengonstruksi kecerdasan spiritualitas-sosial sebagai habitus teologis tunggal yang menyatukan dimensi vertikal dan horizontal kasih, berpijak pada hukum kasih ganda (Mat. 22:37-40), perikoresis trinitarian, dan koinonia. Penelitian menggunakan refleksi teologi praktis berbasis studi kasus dengan kerangka empat tugas Osmer, yakni deskriptif-empiris, interpretatif, normatif, dan pragmatis. Hasil refleksi menunjukkan tiga hal: reduksi psikometrik tidak memadai untuk membentuk aparat sebagai pelayan damai; spiritualitas Kristiani berdimensi sosial-konstitutif, bukan sekadar konsekuensial; serta formasi rohani perlu mengintegrasikan egkrateia (penguasaan diri) dan eirenopoietik (membawa damai) dalam siklus tugas pengamanan. Artikel menutup dengan usulan praksis pastoral bagi pembinaan personel Polri.
