Rich and poor are an ancient enigma as old as humanity. The Bible contains many narratives about the problem of the rich and poor. Jesus was very often in touch with the issue of rich and poor. The four canonical gospels provide many accounts of Jesus' response to the question of rich and poor. Therefore, a study of the canonical records is necessary to reveal Jesus’ partisanship, whether to the poor or the rich. This paper demonstrates this partisanship, i.e., embracing both groups where He is the meeting point. As the new body of Christ, the church continues the role of Jesus as a bridge for both groups to meet and make peace. A more extraordinary task is given to the rich to help the poor out of their poverty. Jesus offers a third way.
Yesus menawarkan jalan ketiga.
