Abstract

This study examines the use of gender metaphors for God in the book of Jeremiah through the lens of trauma hermeneutics and contemporary gender theory. In situations of crisis, gender metaphors play a crucial role in describing the relationship between God and his people, enabling traumatized communities to articulate their suffering and seek healing. The analysis reveals how traumatic experiences shape the way people talk about God and open up space for more inclusive language. This approach is relevant to contemporary theology, offering a more transformative perspective for addressing global challenges. This study invites us to critique binary gender constructions and develop a more complex and inclusive understanding of God.
