The Manganan Ale Tuyu tradition in Lembang Ma’dong, North Toraja, is a cultural practice rich in Christian educational values but is often only seen from an economic perspective. This study explores the potential of this tradition as a means of character education and Christian values in families. Using a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods, data were collected through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with community leaders, Ale Tuyu mat craftsmen, religious leaders, and family members. The study results show that the Manganan tradition teaches hard work, patience, cooperation, and creativity and strengthens family relationships through shared activities. Based on The Traditioning Model of Education: Continuity and Change by Mary Elizabeth Mullino Moore, this tradition can integrate the values of the past, present, and future, creating wise and critical individuals. Thus, the Manganan Ale Tuyu tradition maintains local cultural values and becomes a practical and relevant educational tool in modern life.
