Abstract

Mental health is both a personal and structural issue in Indonesia. In the context of the increasingly critical issue of women's mental health, particularly when faced with social, cultural, and psychological challenges, the story of Abigail in 1 Samuel 25 provides insights into the wisdom and resilience of women in overcoming challenges and difficulties. Asian feminist hermeneutics is utilized because this perspective offers an analysis from the viewpoint of women, addressing a research gap due to the limited studies in feminist hermeneutics in Asia that specifically explore the theology of women's mental health through biblical narratives. This article aims to construct an Old Testament theology regarding women's mental health in Indonesia. Thus, the story of Abigail in 1 Samuel 25 can be constructed as a theology of mental health that emphasizes personal wisdom with therapeutic potential, where women can assume the role of resilient figures amid mental health issues.
